Promoted

A Youngstown native has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Ohio State Highway Patrol and was assigned to serve in the office of the patrol superintendent.

George Williams, a graduate of South High School and past commander of the Southington Post in Trumbull County, was promoted from major and will serve in the personnel office, according to a news release from the patrol.

Williams has been a member of the patrol since April 1987 and was post and district Trooper of the Year in 1993 at the patrol’s Swanton Post. He has also served as commander of the Cambridge District. He served in the Army from 1983-86.
