Pete Sheehan named editor of the Catholic Exponent

Pete Sheehan, a Youngs-town native with 35 years of experience in the Catholic press, has returned to his hometown to assume the duties of editor/ general manager at the Catholic Exponent in the Diocese of Youngstown.
Sheehan, 57, returns to the diocese and the newspaper where he served as a staff reporter from 1979 to 1986 before moving to New York to become senior reporter at the Long Island Catholic, where he served from 1986 to 2012.
He worked at the Niles Daily Times from 1978-79 as a county reporter, covering local government, business, labor and politics.
While with the Long Island Catholic, at one time the largest Catholic newspaper in the nation, Sheehan also was involved in weekly production, story planning and proofreading.
Sheehan, a graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and a 1978 graduate of John Carroll University, grew up in St. Dominic Church and also attended St. Patrick Church.
He succeeds Lou Jacquet, editor and general manager of the Catholic Exponent since 1996. Jacquet has moved to a part-time role in the chancery, working with diocesan archives.
