Death probed as possible homicide

Police have investigated the death of a 4-month-old boy at a residence on Adelaide Avenue Southeast as a possible homicide pending results of an autopsy that will be done today.
Police were called to 1115 Adelaide at 3:57 p.m. Thursday for a child named Carter Clark not breathing. Ambulance personnel arrived shortly after police and transported the child to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital, but he was pronounced dead.
Investigators with the police department and Trumbull County Children Services interviewed several people at the home.
Workshop planned for Sept. 19 at YSU

The Raymond J. Wean Foundation’s seventh annual Nonprofit Summit, “Change: Accepting the Challenge,” is 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 19 at Youngstown State University’s Kilcawley Center.

The keynote speaker is Ruth McCambridge, editor in chief of the Nonprofit Quarterly.
Workshop presenters, panelists and facilitators will cover a broad range of topics based upon feedback at previous summits.
New this year are pre-summit, facilitated continental breakfast networking sessions: one for board members, one for faith-based leaders and one for emerging nonprofit leaders.
Caregiver training
The Alzheimer Network Caregiver Series is offered from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 15 and 22. The training is free, but reservations are required. Call the Alzheimer Network at 330-788-9755. It is not necessary to attend all the sessions. The site will be determined by the location of the registrants.
The subjects are: Session I — “Symptoms, Diagnosis, Behaviors, Medications;” Session II — “Legal /Financial Issues, Community Services to Help;” and Session III — “Safety Concerns, Learning to Cope.”
Volunteers sought
YOUNGSTOWN
Volunteers are needed for two shifts of a community build next Saturday at Glenwood Community Park on Glenwood Avenue between LaClede and Sherwood avenues.
Volunteers may give their time from 8 a.m. to noon, noon to completion, or both. Participants are asked to arrive on time as there are brief informational meetings prior to the start of both shifts.
If volunteers are affiliated with a group with logo T-shirts, they are encouraged to wear them to identify their group.
Organizers are in need of the following supplies: 3/8-inch drive ratchets, 11/16-inch sockets, wheel-barrows, pitchforks and hoses for water. Volunteers are asked to bring the items if possible.
