Attempted abduction

WARREN

A 12-year-old girl called 911 at 6:40 p.m. Thursday to report that an unidentified man in a pickup truck tried to entice her and her 5-year-old brother into his vehicle at the intersection of Ward Street and Ohio Avenue Northwest. The children ran home and called 911, police said.

A similar incident was reported Aug. 24 on Belmont Street Northeast, but police do not believe the same person was involved in both because the descriptions of the males are different.

In the Belmont Street incident, a man 50 to 60 years old with white hair in a red and silver/beige truck asked a 5-year-old girl to “come here.”

The girl, who was in her front yard, reported the incident to her mother, who saw the truck pull away.

Jusino arrested

YOUNGSTOWN

Police arrested 33-year-old Israel Jusino III of Youngstown about 6:40 p.m. Friday on charges of drug trafficking and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

While on routine patrol, police noticed a maroon car pull into the driveway of a West Dewey Avenue house known for drug sales, then back out shortly afterward with a third occupant. Officers initiated a traffic stop, then noticed the car’s driver and passengers acting nervously.

Police soon afterward found that Jusino, who had been making furtive movements, had been concealing a digital scale containing marijuana residue and a white powder residue consistent with heroin, as well as a clear plastic bag containing suspected heroin and $452 in cash.

Drug charges

YOUNGSTOWN

A 35-year-old Girard man was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and drug-abuse instruments and driving under suspension, at about 2:30 p.m. Friday after being pulled over for a traffic violation. The driver, Jason Henninger, had failed to signal when turning from Rockview Avenue onto High Street, and told police he didn’t have his driver’s license with him, but that the passenger, 37-year-old Michaelyn Purucker of Youngstown, might have it. He later said it had been suspended. Police noticed that Purucker was fidgety, and she admitted to police that an uncapped needle was in the glove box. After searching the car, police found the loaded, uncapped needle filled with suspected heroin, used glass crack pipes, a used syringe and a used heroin spoon.

Purucker was charged with possession of heroin, drug paraphernalia and drug-abuse instruments.
