4 finalists named for Cincy police job

CINCINNATI (AP) — Four finalists have been named to head the police department of Ohio’s third-largest city.

Cincinnati City Manager Milton Dohoney says an 11-member screening committee narrowed the list of potential candidates from 28 and he will now interview the four finalists.

Dohoney, who will choose the next chief, could also decide to interview other candidates to succeed James Craig, who left to become Detroit’s police chief.

The finalists are Paul H. Humphries, who has served as interim chief since June; Columbus Police deputy chief Jeffrey Blackwell; Mesa, Ariz., police deputy chief Michael Dvorak; and Jerry Speziale, deputy superintendent of the New York/New Jersey Port Authority Police.
