False alarm at Paul C. Bunn Elementary School
YOUNGSTOWN ā A possibly faulty smoke detector caused the false alarm that brought Boardman Township firefighters to Paul C. Bunn Elementary School, 1825 Sequoya Drive, early this afternoon.
Firefighters responded to the alarm at 1:36 p.m., but quickly cleared the scene and were sent on another call.
William Baun, Bunn building principal, said a smoke detector in the inside loading area went off, but there was no fire. He said the fire department was to come back to the school Friday to inspect the device.
Baun said the building of pre-kindergarten through sixth-grade students was evacuated in 1 minute and 20 seconds. āIām very proud of our staff and students,ā the principal said.
