Television series released on DVD this week include:
v “Revolution” season 1: Who put the lights out? NBC’s speculative saga pits off-the-grid freedom fighters against an authoritarian militia in 20 episodes (Season 2 begins Sept. 25). Extras include behind-the-scenes pilot, post-tech landscapes, plus webisodes, more; Blu-ray adds Comic-Con panel. $60 DVD/$70 Blu-ray+DVD+digital, Warner.
v “Scandal” season 2: Kerry Washington’s D.C. melodrama heats up into a certified sensation, with extended finale, featurettes (season 3 starts Oct. 3); $46, ABC.
v “Da Vinci’s Demons”: Artist/thinker becomes fighter/lover, too, in Tom Riley’s full-throttle portrayal, with commentaries, Da Vinci featurettes, more (Starz second season in 2014); $45 DVD/$55 Blu-ray, Anchor Bay.
v “Sons of Anarchy” season 5: “Creator’s cut” episodes highlight biker betrayals, with commentaries, more (FX Season 6 starts Tuesday); $60 DVD/$70 Blu-ray, Fox.
v “Sharknado”: The film, the fad, the disc; $15 DVD/$20 Blu-ray, Gaiam.
“Earthflight” (8 p.m., PBS): This “Nature” special is the kickoff for a six-part series that examines the Earth from a bird’s-eye view.
“Inside The NFL” (9 p.m. Showtime): Season 37, umm, “kicks off.”
“Futurama” (10 p.m., Comedy Channel): All good things come to an end — yes, even “Futurama.” The loony sci-fi cartoon series caps things off with the long-anticipated wedding between Fry and Leela, along with plenty of slapstick violence, of course.
“It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” (10 p.m., FXX): “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” kicks off its ninth season and helps FX to launch a new, offshoot network. They’re surely raising a toast to that down at Paddy’s Pub.
“Hot in Cleveland” (10 p.m., TV Land): Love is all around for tonight’s “Hot in Cleveland,” which reunites five actresses from “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” — Valerie Harper, Cloris Leachman, Georgia Engel, Betty White and Mary herself.
“The League” (10:30 P.M., FXX): Season 5 begins tonight.
“Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell” (11 p.m., FXX): The standup comic is back with a new season.
