Road projects

The Ohio Department of Transportation has road projects scheduled in Canfield and in Mecca and Greene townships in Trumbull County.

In Canfield, these routes will have lane restrictions for resurfacing: U.S. Route 224 from U.S. Route 62 to Talsman Drive; and Route 62 from Callahan Road to Scott Street.

In Trumbull County, state Route 46 in Mecca and Greene townships just south of the Ashtabula County line is closed through early October for a culvert replacement. The detour is State Route 87 to State Route 11 to U.S. Route 32.

Road closing

Youngstown

Celebrate Golden Strings will commence at 8 a.m. Saturday and end around 1 a.m. Sunday. Lansing Avenue will be closed between Oak and Emmett Street during this time.

Man stabbed

WARREN

Maurice Lowery, 45, of Hollywood Street Northeast is in serious condition at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital after being stabbed at 9:04 p.m. Monday at his home in the 800 block of Hollywood.

A police report says he suffered a severe laceration and another major injury. Lowery was not able to talk to police about the incident Monday night because he was going into surgery, police said.

3 men arrested

WARREN

Two 18-year-olds and a 28-year-old were arrested at 2:37 p.m. Friday at a house on Kensington Street Northwest after the resident reported that one of the three was a former foster child who brought two friends, broke down her door and assaulted her and two of her children.

Her children are age 20 and 19. None of the three required medical attention.

Cheri Kiser, 18, of Mehlo Lane, Youngstown; Atara R. Broadus, 28, of Tod Avenue Northwest; and Tyren Jethrow, 18, of Logan Arms Drive in Girard; were arraigned on misdemeanor charges Tuesday in Warren Municipal Court and pleaded innocent.

Kiser is charged with domestic violence and assault; Broadus is charged with assault and aggravated trespass; and Jethrow is charged with assault and criminal damaging.

Bond for Kiser was set at $1,500; Broadus was released after posting bond of $2,000; and Jethrow remains in the Trumbull CountyJail, not eligible to make bond.

Boy found alone

WARREN

Police were called to a home in the 1800 block of Parkman Road Northwest at 3 p.m. Friday and found a 9-year-old autistic boy home alone.

Several minutes later, his 11-year-old sister arrived. Both children said their father told them he would be there when they got home, but he hadn’t arrived.

Warren police learned both parents were at the Warren Police Department getting a vehicle released.

The children were released to their parents at the Warren Police Department, and Trumbull County Children Services opened an investigation.

Charged with assault

WARREN

Bond was set at $50,000 for John D. Pollard II, 25, of Draper Avenue SE, charged with felonious assault at 12:20 a.m. Saturday for purportedly stabbing the mother of his child with a kitchen fork multiple times.

The 38-year-old woman suffered minor lacerations to her lower leg at her apartment on Lane Drive Southeast, police said. She received treatment by ambulance personnel.

Pollard was arraigned Tuesday in Warren Municipal Court and remains in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
