Police: Man died after arrest in western Pa.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Authorities in western Pennsylvania say an autopsy will be done to determine what killed a man who died after he was arrested by Pittsburgh police.
Police homicide officials say officers responded shortly before 10 p.m. Tuesday to a report that a man was trying to force his way into a home and was assaulting the homeowner.
Officials say the man refused arrest and tried to assault one of the officers, and several different forms of less than lethal force were used to take him into custody.
But police say officers saw shortly afterward while still at the scene that the man was having a medical emergency, and he later died at a local hospital.
Allegheny County police are investigating and the county medical examiner is to perform an autopsy.
