A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty and Girard:
LIBERTY
Aug. 28
Theft: An East Liberty Street man who had rented a portion of his residence accused the former tenant of stealing $900 worth of antique dishes and cookware.
Theft: A woman noticed a $2,700 air-conditioning unit missing from a window to her Goldie Road home.
Arrest: A traffic stop in the 3100 block of Belmont Avenue resulted in 38-year-old Miles Lee Sr.’s arrest. Lee, of Dearborn Avenue, Liberty, was wanted on a probation-violation warrant.
Aug. 29
Drugs: A vehicle check on Belmont Avenue led to a summons charging Lakeisha Henderson of Norwood Avenue, Youngstown, with marijuana possession and driving under suspension. Henderson, 34, had a bag of suspected marijuana in her purse, a report said.
Aug. 30
Possible fraud: A Hazlewood Avenue woman alleged her husband had forged her signature on a vehicle title prior to his giving her the car as part of a settlement.
Arrest: Youngstown police apprehended 48-year-old Derrick E. Ross after learning the Columbus man was wanted on a township warrant accusing him of driving under suspension.
Theft: A Northgate Drive woman told officers she paid a neighbor $180 for perfume and other related products but never received the items.
Citation: Authorities near Mansell Drive cited 18-year-old Darrian L. Harper, of Ohio Trail, Youngstown, on charges of operating an unsafe vehicle and alcohol possession when, they said, he had alcohol in his car.
Drugs: Duane W. Moore of South Cedar Avenue, Niles, was charged with possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia after police pulled over the 46-year-old man near Gypsy Lane. Two rocks of suspected crack cocaine and a suspected crack-cocaine pipe were found, a report showed.
Aug. 31
Theft: A man stole a $2,000 scanner from Auto Zone, 3109 Belmont Ave.
Arrest: Donald L. Smith, 56, of Indiana Avenue, Girard, was taken into custody during a traffic stop near Mansell Drive. He was wanted on a Portage County warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Sept. 1
Drugs: Officers near Interstate 80 and state Route 193 pulled over, then charged 33-year-old Jason A. McKoy with drug abuse after alleging McKoy, of West Second Street, Girard, had a small bag of suspected marijuana and a suspected marijuana cigar.
Arrest: Jimmy L. Washington, 35, of East Montrose Street, Liberty, was booked at the Mahoning County jail on a charge of failing to appear in court on a theft count.
Assault: An employee with Belmont Pines Hospital, 615 Church Hill- Hubbard Road, reported a 15-year-old girl to whom the accuser had exercised a disciplinary measure struck her forehead with a chair, resulting in a deep cut.
Sept. 2
Possible stolen property: Police received information that someone had tossed a backpack in a wooded area in the 200 block of Laurel Street that contained three pairs of blue jeans that may have been stolen.
GIRARD
Aug. 30
Theft: A woman reported a 9mm firearm missing from her residence in the 300 block of East Kline Street.
Vandalism: Someone near Wilson Avenue applied black spray-paint to all sides of a car and did an estimated $1,000 in damage.
Arrest: Authorities at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown picked up 24-year-old Amber M. Cool, of Gypsy Lane, Niles, on a warrant accusing her of failing to appear in court on a disorderly-conduct charge.
Aug. 31
Disorderly conduct: A charge was pending after police responded to the 200 block of East Main Street, where they said an intoxicated woman was yelling and causing a disturbance in the neighborhood.
Menacing: An East Main Street woman and her son reported having received several calls in which someone threatened to shoot them.
Harassment: A Maple Avenue man told police a caller threatened to kill him.
Arrest: Officers responded to a suspicious person crawling under a porch on Townsend Avenue before taking Jordan A. Perry, 19, into custody. Perry, of Townsend, Girard, was wanted on warrants charging burglary and marijuana possession.
Theft: A woman reported the theft of $217 from her Stambaugh Street home.
Sept. 1
Menacing: A North Randolph Avenue woman reported her daughter, of Niles, received a series of threatening emails.
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a garage in the 100 block of East Main Street and removed a power washer, a chain saw, a dartboard and other items.
Attempted breaking and entering: A tool, possibly a screwdriver, was used to pry at a garage door in an effort to enter the garage in the 100 block of Hazel Street.
Sept. 2
Trespassing: Summonses were pending against two people accused of trespassing at an apartment complex near Highland Avenue.
Theft: A Dearborn Avenue woman reported a 42-inch TV, a Sony PlayStation 3 system and two firearms stolen from her residence. The loss came to about $1,450.
Sept. 3
Theft: A man discovered about $1,000 worth of golf clubs missing from his vehicle while in the 700 block of East Liberty Street.
Burglary/assault: A woman told authorities a bearded man in a green shirt and blue jeans broke into her Dearborn Avenue home, then struck her face and choked her before leaving.
