“Top Gear” 9 p.m., History: A new season leaves the starting line tonight.

“LUTHER” (10 p.m., BBC America): Idris Elba is back on the beat as tormented Detective Chief Inspector John Luther. The final four-part chapter of this blistering British drama series is darker than ever as Luther splits time between two horrific crime investigations. But, hey, on the bright side, he gets a new girlfriend (Sienna Guillory).

“Cold Justice” (10 p.m., TNT): “Cold Justice” is a new true-crime series from producer Dick Wolf (“Law & Order”). It follows former prosecutor Kelly Siegler and veteran crime-scene investigator Yolanda McClary as they attempt to crack long-unsolved murder cases in small towns across the country.

“The Daily Show With Jon Stewart” 11 p.m., Comedy Central: Fill-in host John Oliver relinquishes the anchor desk as Jon Stewart returns from summer moviemaking.

Car show is part of artists event

YOUNGSTOWN

Artists of The Rustbelt will host a car and art show from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday at B&O Station, 530 Mahoning Ave.

The artists alliance is teaming with Roadhounds, a local car club, for the show, at which regional artists will display and sell their work and present live demonstrations. Admission is $1.

The Tribe of Eos belly dance group will perform, and the Little Steel Derby Girls will appear.

Food will be available from Avalon Downtown, Aunt Sadie’s Kitchen, Buffcakes and Sugar Mama.

W.Va. during war is topic of program

Mercer

The Mercer County Historical Society will host a program on West Virginia during the Civil War at its headquarters, 119 S. Pitt St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 10. The information will be presented by Kent Warman.

The Civil War Discussion Group is part of the society’s efforts to provide programming related to local history. The round table meets on the second Tuesday of each month from September through May. Participation is open to the public and is free.

Historical society plans Founders Day

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will have a free Founders Day open house at the Arms Family Museum on Sept. 15 from 1 to 5 p.m. The museum will be open for tours, the education staff will have indoor and outdoor games and activities for all ages and executive director Bill Lawson will lead a walking tour of historic Wick Avenue at 1:30 p.m.
