Liberty ready for two beautification projects

LIBERTY — The township is getting ready to begin two beautification projects.

A new "welcome to Liberty" sign and a large American flag with lighting will be installed on Belmont Avenue near the Interstate 80 bridge, said township Administrator Patrick Ungaro. He was unsure when, but said it would be soon. The project costs $50,000, and the money was donated, he said.

The township is also getting a $200,000 state grant for seven more benches from State Route 304 to Gypsy Lane, he said. There are already 14 benches there.

The city will solicit bids for that project this month and begin sometime in October, he said.
