Pretrial hearing for Pavlik moved

CANFIELD

The pretrial hearing for former middleweight boxing champion Kelly Pavlik on a theft charge has been moved to Dec. 6 in Canfield Court.

Pavlik’s hearing was originally to take place Nov. 8.

He is accused of not paying a taxi driver a $25 cab fee after he was dropped off at his Canfield Township home in September.

Pavlik turned in a written plea of not guilty to the misdemeanor theft charge on Sept. 24.

His pretrial hearing will start at 9 a.m. Dec. 6.

Woman approached

CAMPBELL

A 22-year-old Princess Street woman told police a man tried to abduct her shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The woman told police she was walking home from the Family Dollar and was crossing Robinson Road when an older man drove up alongside her and asked her if she wished to make some extra money.

The woman told police she believes the comment was sexual in nature.

She described the man as having gray hair and a beard, and driving a black Chevrolet truck.

Police told the woman to report any further sightings of the man.

Restaurant robbed

WARREN

A male with a handgun robbed Carmen’s Pizza, 1861 Youngstown Road SE, at 8:38 p.m. Tuesday, getting away with $340, Warren police said.

They were unable to locate the man.

Warren man indicted

WARREN

Joshua W. Robbs, 38, of state Route 305 in Southington and Catherine Street in Liberty, has been indicted by a Trumbull County grand jury on a kidnapping charge and three counts of gross sexual imposition.

The indictment says the sex charges occurred Aug. 26, Sept. 2 and Sept. 6, and the kidnapping took place Sept. 6.

If he’s convicted, he could spend more than 10 years in prison.

He will be arraigned at 11 a.m. Nov. 13 in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

St. Patrick School, 38 E. Water St., will offer a free cyber-bullying workshop for parents/guardians of school-age children at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the school.

Maggie Matune, director of media and information technologies at Ursuline High School, will present the workshop to help parents monitor and keep their child safe in cyberspace.
