Phone pole catches fire at Mathews, Sheridan

BOARDMAN

Boardman Fire Department responded to a fire at a telephone pole that left wires hanging just before 9 p.m. Thursday on Mathews Road.

The cause of the blaze is unknown, but the pole was burned all the way through, which caused the top of it to fall and leave wires exposed, according to the fire department.

A police cruiser was called to help direct traffic by the intersection, at Sheridan The fire occurred east of the intersection.
