OH WOW! hosts foster-family event Friday evening

YOUNGSTOWN — Thanks to grant funding from the William Swanston Charitable Fund, OH WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology, 11 W. Federal St., will host the first of three exclusive events for foster families in the Mahoning and Trumbull County service areas from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday evening.

The objective of the collaborative pilot program is to provide an environment to help build relationships between foster families and the children they are caring for, while increasing their interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education through hands-on interactive activities, according to a center news release.

Twenty-five families have been selected to participate this year. Families that attend STEM Together events will also receive a family membership to OH WOW!, allowing them to visit the center at no cost for one year.
