Mahoning commissioners approve road-resurfacing pact
YOUNGSTOWN — The Mahoning County commissioners awarded the $109,308 Newton Falls Road resurfacing contract this morning to Diorio Paving of Girard.
Diorio will place a top coat of asphalt on two miles of that road between Gladstone Road and Mahoning Avenue in Milton Township, where Chesapeake Energy hauled equipment and materials to a nearby oil and gas-well drilling site.
Chesapeake has placed a preliminary coat of asphalt on that road, said Patrick Ginnetti, county engineer.
On behalf of the county recycling division, the commissioners entered into an agreement with Custom Blended Soils Inc. of Boardman to receive for composting the leaves collected from participating communities at no cost to the county.
