Iron Roots Urban Farm has free farm-warming party Saturday afternoon

YOUNGSTOWN — Iron Roots Urban Farm invites the community to come tour the farm and meet the staff from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the farm grounds, 820 Canfield Road.

There will be a tasting table full of treats from Cabot Cheddar; hot apple cider, apples and doughnuts from White House Fruit Farm; and produce for sale from Iron Roots Urban Farm and from local urban growers.

The activities featured at the farm-warming party will include outdoor games, pumpkin decorating, children’s crafts, cooking demos and farm tours of the original historic structure on the site that now houses Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp.’s offices and newly constructed demonstration kitchen building.

There will also be a free raffle to give away prizes.

Admission is free. Parking will be available on Billingsgate Avenue.
