Police seized several weapons and found drug paraphernalia while answering an alarm call early Tuesday on the South Side.

Officers were called for an alarm at a home in the 100 block of East Judson Avenue about 8:05 a.m., and when they arrived, they found an open door and went in.

In the kitchen they spotted a loaded sawed-off 12-gauge shotgun on a kitchen counter and also found three scales, the kind that are usually used to weigh drugs, reports said.

Officers then went into another room and found a man lying on a bed next to a loaded 30-30 rifle, reports said, and in another room, they found Jason Dunkle-Thacker, 18, and next to him was a sandwich bag with a rock of suspected crack cocaine and some pills, reports said.

There also were lots of shotgun shells in the room, reports said.

Another loaded shotgun was found inside a closet, reports said.

Dunkle-Thacker was arrested and taken to the Mahoning County jail.

He was charged with possession of dangerous drugs, possession of drug abuse instruments, drug-paraphernalia and possession of drugs/cocaine.

The other man who was in the house was not charged or taken into custody.

Dunkle-Thacker is expected to be arraigned in Municipal Court today.

Police collected the weapons for evidence.
