Mom charged with child endangering after sobriety test

CANFIELD

Canfield police arrested a 31-year-old Boardman woman for operating a vehicle impaired and endangering children.

Jennifer Theisler of Turnberry Drive is accused of driving while intoxicated on Oct. 24 and placing her children in danger.

Police were called to Canfield Village Middle School at 10:49 a.m. to respond to an unruly child.

Upon arrival, police spoke with Theisler who said her children were running late for school and she was dropping them off when her daughter became angry and jumped out of the car, according to a police report.

Her 12-year-old told police she did not want live with her mother anymore. Theisler and her daughter went to speak to the guidance counselor and her 18-year-old son stayed in the car.

While in the school, police noticed the smell of alcohol on Theisler.

Theisler told police she had three glasses of wine the night before. She agreed to take a field sobriety test and police noticed multiple errors in how she responded.

A breath test resulted in a .160 reading. Theisler was taken into custody.

On Oct. 25 she pleaded not guilty to endangering children and the OVI in Canfield court.

She has a pretrial for the charges at 4 p.m. Nov. 12.
