Playhouse youth troupe to present ‘Thespis’
Staff report
YOUNGSTOWN
The Youngstown Playhouse Youth Theatre will present “Thespis and the Three Golden Feathers,” an original production written and directed by James Canacci.
The play centers around the orphaned boy Eutychus and his adventures through ancient Greece. Thespis, the legendary actor and playwright, tells of Eutychus’s tumultuous relationship with King Midas, and how he survived his challenges, not with weapons or magic, but with his wits and the help of his new family and friends. While telling the tale, Thespis also introduces the audience to some of the more important aspects of ancient Greek theater.
The cast includes Terry Shears, Bryson Cook, Elaine Habeger and Dylan White, along with almost 20 young actors from the area.
Performances are scheduled for Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $7 for students and $9 for adults. For reservations, call 33-788-8739.
