Hubbard City Council is considering a raise for the city auditor’s position.
Mayor John Darko asked the council at its Oct. 20 meeting to consider the raise.
“It’s not the person, but the position,” Darko said Monday.
The position’s pay has not been raised since 2005, he said.
Mike Villano is the city auditor. His present salary is $41,000. Darko said he is not recommending how much of a raise Villano would get.
Darko said that Villano performs duties beyond the fiscal responsibilities required in the Ohio Revised Code.
He handles human resources, information technology and health-care administration, he said.
At its meeting last week, the council also passed a pay raise for Police Chief Jim Taafe.
Taafe, who made $49,000, will now make $55,000.
The raise is retroactive to Jan. 1.
The city hadn’t raised the chief’s salary since 2004.
