District receives $300K gift from Cafaro
vienna
The Cafaro Foundation has given $300,000 to the Mathews Local School District.
The district is seeking to replace its aging school buildings, one of which is 98 years old. The buildings would be replaced with a single kindergarten through 12th-grade building.
The Ohio Facilities Construction Commission has agreed to provide 19 percent of the projected cost, but the school district is responsible for raising the remaining necessary funds, estimated at $25 million.
The gift from the Cafaro Foundation is intended to help meet that local match.
The district is expected to seek a bond issue from voters to fund the remainder of the local obligation.
