Pa. doctor waives hearing in suspicious death case

YORK, Pa. (AP) — A doctor in central Pennsylvania is heading to trial stemming from allegations that he moved a York man’s dead body from his home last month.

Dr. John Yelcick, 48, waived his preliminary hearing last week and allowed abuse of a corpse and evidence tampering charges to proceed to Lancaster County Court.

Police said 43-year-old David Sellers died Sept. 13 at the doctor’s Manheim Township home. Yelcick is accused of putting the body in Sellers’ car, driving to York and leaving the car there with Sellers inside. The body was found four days later.

Yelcick told police he was concerned Sellers brought illegal drugs into his home. Toxicology results are pending from the autopsy.

Yelcick is on administrative leave from Lancaster General Hospital, where he’s chairman of the pathology department.
