BOARDMAN

Tarte Cosmetics is again teaming up with Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley for a food drive from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 9 at Ulta Beauty, Shops at Boardman Park, 403 Boardman-Poland Road.

The “Tarte of Giving” event is sponsored by Tarte Cosmetics of New York.

Mary Hall of Canfield, Tarte’s regional education manager and QVC makeup artist, said the company encourages local philanthropy in addition to its global efforts to support those in need.

“We are excited to again support Second Harvest, which does so much for people in our area,” Hall said. “Last year’s event was such a success, we knew we had to do it again.”

The most-needed items include peanut butter, cereal, canned vegetables, tuna fish, dried pasta, canned soup and macaroni and cheese.

For every three items donated, guests will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win one of two $300 Tarte gift baskets.

The company’s team of national makeup artists also will be on hand, doing consultations by appointment. An appointment is not needed to donate. Those who want to secure a spot for a consultation, however, can contact Ulta at 330-629-6276.

The company, which formulates products without ingredients such as dyes, fragrances, parabens and petrochemicals, believes in social responsibility and is part of a cooperative in the Amazon. Every year, Tarte gives back a portion of proceeds to the Sustainable Amazon Partnership.

Second Harvest gathers, stores and distributes food to hunger relief organizations in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties. The organization’s 153-member agencies feed more than 15,000 people each week.
