Ashley Dow won two events but the Youngstown State swimming and diving team still lost to Green Bay on Friday, 182-118.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Dow had a time of 58.50 seconds and in the 200-yard back she swam 2:06.75. She was third in the 200-yard IM (2:16.83).

Bec Stafford won the 1-meter dive posting a score of 301.34 and she took the 3-meter dive (276.75). Lydia Scheringer was third at 231.23 and Tricia Vallinger placed fourth (225.45).

Laura Paz had a first-place time of 58.19 seconds in the 100-yard fly. Paz placed second in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.94).

YSU volleyball team beats Cleveland State

The Youngstown State volleyball team won the first two sets and held off a Cleveland State rally to beat the Vikings in five sets on Friday.

The Penguins (13-10, 5-3 Horizon League) won 25-20 and 25-18 before Cleveland State prevailed 28-26. The Vikings captured the fourth 25-23, and YSU buckled down to win the fifth set 15-10.

The Penguins won at Cleveland State for the first time since 1998 and beat the Vikings twice in the same season for the first time since 1995.

Former Washington star Rogers dies at 49

SEATTLE

Before he became an All-American on the University of Washington football team, before he became embroiled in legal troubles, Reggie Rogers was a crowd favorite at UW basketball games in the early 1980s.

Rogers died Thursday in Seattle’s Central District, at age 49, after a history of alcohol abuse.

A law enforcement official said police were called to 2761 E. Yesler Way at 12:47 p.m. for a man who was not breathing and apparently dead on the porch of a home. The official confirmed it was Rogers.

Taysom Hill leads BYU

PROVO, Utah

Taysom Hill threw for 339 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 69 yards and another score to help BYU beat Boise State 37-20 on Friday night.

Hill completed 29 of 41 passes to lead the Cougars (6-2) to their fifth straight victory — and the school’s first in four meeting with Boise State (5-3). Jamaal Williams ran for 107 yards for BYU.

Grant Hedrick threw for 232 yards and a touchdown in his first start and Jay Ajayi added 151 yards on the ground.

Keegan Bradley is playing so well at the CIMB Classic that not even his beloved Boston Red Sox and the World Series can distract him. At Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club, Bradley had seven birdies — five in a six-hole stretch on his back nine — and shot a 6-under 66 to open a four-stroke lead at 13-under 131.

LPGA Taiwan Championship

Suzann Pettersen had a hole-in-one and increased her lead to five strokes after the second round of the LPGA Taiwan Championship.

The defending champion aced the 133-yard second hole with a pitching wedge and finished with a 3-under 69 in swirling wind conditions to reach 7 under.

AT&T Championship

SAN ANTONIO

Kenny Perry birdied five of the first six holes and finished with a 7-under 65 to take the first-round lead in the Champions Tour’s AT&T Championship. The Charles Schwab Cup leader birdied the first three holes, dropped a stroke on the par-3 fourth, then birdied the next two holes.
