Niles man charged with theft, possession of criminal tools

Township police arrested a Niles man on a warrant for theft and possession of criminal tools.

Police arrested Charles Parisi, 25, of Fairlawn Street, at St. Elizabeth Health Center on Thursday after he was released from the hospital.

Parisi had an active warrant in Niles.

He also is charged in an Oct. 13 theft from the Boardman Walmart.

Police say Parisi and Erica Lough of Bristolville went into Walmart and used a utility knife to cut open cellphone packaging and steal the phones. The store’s loss-prevention officer did not stop the pair because they had a knife, according to a police report. The cellphones stolen had a total value of $329.64.

The loss-prevention official was able to catch Lough, but Parisi got away.

Lough is charged with petty theft. She pleaded not guilty to the charge at her arraignment Oct. 15. She has a pretrial scheduled at 9 a.m. Nov. 5 in Mahoning County Area Court in Boardman.

Parisi also is charged with petty theft. His arraignment date has not been set. Boardman police took Parisi to Niles for his active warrant there.
