Bloom and Kerr announce their split

NEW YORK

The marriage of actor Orlando Bloom and model Miranda Kerr has ended — even as Bloom tackles one of the most romantic roles in history, Romeo.

Publicist Robin Baum released a joint statement Friday that said Kerr and Bloom — two of the most beautiful people on the planet — “have been amicably separated for the past few months” and “recently decided to formalize their separation” after six years together.

The 36-year-old actor, who starred in “The Lord of the Rings” and “Pirates of the Caribbean” films, and the 30-year-old supermodel were married in 2010. They have a 21/2 year-old son, Flynn.

Bloom is making his Broadway debut as Romeo in director David Leveaux’s revival of Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.”

Kerr, a top Victoria’s Secret model, first met Bloom backstage at a lingerie fashion show in New York in 2006.

Rap promoter gets life in prison in drug case

NEW YORK

A hip-hop promoter convicted in a New York City drug-trafficking case has been sentenced to life in prison.

James Rosemond received the sentence Friday in federal court in Brooklyn.

A jury found Rosemond guilty last year at a trial in which prosecutors accused him of running a lucrative drug ring.

They said the ring smuggled cocaine in music equipment cases slathered with mustard to throw off drug-sniffing dogs.

Lawyers for the 48-year-old Rosemond said he was framed.

Rosemond still faces separate charges in Manhattan alleging he arranged a murder as payback for an assault on his son.

Quincy Jones sues Michael Jackson’s estate

LOS ANGELES

Quincy Jones sued Michael Jackson’s estate Friday, claiming he is owed millions in royalties and production fees on some of the superstar’s greatest hits.

Jones’ lawsuit seeks at least $10 million from the singer’s estate and Sony Music Entertainment, claiming the entities improperly re-edited songs to deprive him of royalties and production fees. The music has been used in the film “This Is It” and a pair of Cirque du Soleil shows based on the King of Pop’s songs, the lawsuit states.

Jones also claims that he should have received a producer’s credit on the music in “This Is It.” His lawsuit seeks an accounting of the estate’s profits from the works so that Jones can determine how much he is owed.

The producer worked with Jackson on three of his most popular solo albums, “Off the Wall,” ‘’Thriller” and “Bad.”
