Federal indictment charges Salem duo with marijuana operation

CLEVELAND

A man and a woman from Salem have been indicted by a federal grand jury on charges they conspired to cultivate and distribute marijuana, laundered money and engaged in a financial transaction using marijuana trafficking proceeds.

Charles S. Wilson Jr., 40, and Sandra R. Wilson, 42, conspired to cultivate more than 100 marijuana plants in their residence for purposes of distributing the drug between June and September this year, the U.S. Attorney said.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and is being prosecuted by David M. Toepfer, the Youngstown-based assistant U.S. attorney.
