Dana orchestra to feature music of E. Europe

The Dana Symphony Orchestra will perform at 4 p.m. Sunday at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave.

John Wilcox, music director of the DSO, has fashioned a program with a nod to his parents’ heritage as well as his own childhood home.

The concert will feature eastern European favorites, including “Overture to the Bartered Bride” by Bedrich Smetana, three Slavonic Dances (Op. 46, Nos. 1-3) by Antonin Dvorak, and Bedrich Smetana’s “Die Moldau.”

The second half of the program will include Sir Edward Elgar’s “Enigma — Variations” (OP. 36) and will conclude with “Sensemaya” by Mexican composer Silvestre Revueltas.

Tickets are $5 ($4 for students and senior citizens, and free for anyone with a valid Youngstown State University ID).
