W. Pa. screening of films on shale gas


PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Pittsburgh Filmmakers are hosting a screening of short films about the shale-gas drilling boom, and a panel discussion.

The event on Tuesday evening Oct. 29 features excerpts from Gas Rush Stories, a series of films by Kirsi Jansa, and a panel discussion on the challenges journalists face when reporting on the shale gas industry.

Panelists include Jansa, Reid Frazier, the Marcellus Shale reporter for WESA/Allegheny Front, and Tim Hudson, a professor of communication at Point Park University. Chris Moore of radio station WQED is the moderator.

Tickets are $10, and the screenings begin at 7 p.m.

The Pittsburgh Filmmakers are located at 477 Melwood Ave. in Pittsburgh.
