A spaghetti dinner fundraiser was hosted for Love This Place on Oct. 6 at Bridge of Hope Church.

Love This Place is an organization dedicated to building the character of today’s youth.

“We realized you aren’t born with character, it’s something that is developed within you,” said Lori Valenzisi, Director of School Programs of Love This Place. “We want to reach out to the youth and help them develop the best character they can.”

Love This Place does this by teaming up with local schools, sports teams and organizations and provides character programs. Valenzisi said there is always a focal point to each of the lessons.

“For example, to have a friend you have to be a friend,” said Valenzisi.

Valenzisi visits individual classrooms once a month at West Boulevard Elementary School.

Mandi Scrocco, guidance councilor at West Boulevard, said the students and teachers absolutely love the program.

“The lessons are all very interactive for the kids,” said Scrocco. “The teachers like the type of lessons she provides.”

Valenzisi plans to continue to establish an on going relationship with the children and the teachers in the community.

“Something [positive] happens when you connect emotionally to kids, there’s retention,” said Valenzisi.
