Snow causes power outages, school closings in Cleveland

CLEVELAND (AP) — More than 14,000 utility customers here and in Cuyahoga County are without power after a snowstorm that downed trees and forced some schools and businesses to close.

FirstEnergy reported more than 35,000 outages on Thursday, but only 14,615 customers remained without electricity early today. Most of the outages were in Cuyahoga County and Geauga County, where the National Weather Service says more than 3 inches of snow could fall today.

A lake-effect snow warning is in effect through noon.
