A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Oct. 14
Arrests: Police charged Shannon L. Cady of Chippewa, Pa., and Alex Chapman of Geneva Avenue, Struthers, both 18, with offenses involving underage persons after having received a tip about an underage drinking party at a residence in the 2200 block of Manor Avenue. Both were released on summonses.
Oct. 15
Criminal damaging: A home in the 8500 block of Catarina Place sustained $1,000 in exterior damage.
Oct. 16
Criminal damaging: Someone in the 8600 block of Catarina Place damaged a mailbox.
BOARDMAN
Oct. 18
Theft: Police arrested James E. Ritter, 54, of State Line Road, Kinsman, on a warrant accusing him of stealing $60 worth of groceries from Marc’s, 7121 Tiffany Blvd.
Fraud: A Green Bay Drive woman discovered a $1,158 unauthorized purchase had been made with her debit card.
Breaking and entering: Someone entered a vacant home in the 3900 block of Arden Boulevard via the front door and removed copper piping from the first floor.
Identity fraud: The wife of an Algonquin, Ill., man told police someone ordered two $319 laptop computers online using information from her husband’s two accounts to have the merchandise shipped to Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, even though he had never ordered the items.
Theft: An 11-year-old Youngstown boy was charged with stealing a $99 cellphone from Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft: Brittany R. Haefke, 21, of Finland Drive, Austintown, was charged in the theft of two pairs of jeans valued at $213 from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall.
Domestic violence: Courtney L. Paulin, 25, of Shields Road, Boardman, was charged with the crime after police responded to a fight between two men in the 300 block of Shields. An intoxicated Paulin spit in her estranged husband’s face during an argument, then attacked both men, a report said.
Criminal damaging: A mailbox and a newspaper box were damaged in the 600 block of Squirrel Hill Drive.
Menacing: A Medina man doing construction work at a Market Street restaurant told officers a subcontractor threatened to harm him during an argument about the subcontractor’s job performance.
Harassment: A manager with a Boardman-Canfield Road bank told authorities a man called her a litany of derogatory names over the phone after he had been unable to cash a $65,000 check.
Harassment: Police at the Mahoning County jail booked 18-year-old Lee E. Johnson III of Parkview Avenue, Youngstown, on a telecommunications-harassment charge after a Glenwood Avenue woman alleged Johnson had refused to return their child to her as agreed upon and made threats.
Theft: Youngstown State University police handed 27-year-old Rodney E. Lee Jr., to Boardman authorities. Lee, of Lora Avenue, Youngstown, was wanted on a warrant accusing him of stealing a $43 bottle of alcohol from Giant Eagle, 476 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Auto theft: A 2008 Saturn Vue was stolen in the 8200 block of Southern Boulevard.
Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 100 block of Meadowbrook Avenue was found with all of its tires punctured and an unknown liquid having been poured on it. The damage estimate was $1,520.
Theft: A South Schenley Avenue man reported his wallet stolen from his car.
Criminal damaging: Someone in the 300 block of Shields Road used a key to damage and scrawl an obscenity on a car’s finish.
Oct. 19
Domestic violence: Struthers police handed to township authorities 18-year-old Robert J. Rosenberg of West Boulevard, Boardman, who faced charges of domestic violence and receiving stolen property. Rosenberg’s fianc e alleged he had choked her and stolen the accuser’s Sony PlayStation 3 and Wii systems.
Theft: An expiration sticker was stolen off a vehicle in the 100 block of Boardman-Poland Road.
Arrest: Police responded to a vehicular accident in the 4700 block of Brookwood Road, which led to charges of operating a vehicle impaired, obstructing official business and resisting arrest against 61-year-old Jacqueline L. Midgett of Indianola Road, Boardman. An intoxicated Midgett also refused to cooperate with officers, they said.
Drugs: A traffic stop on Mathews Road resulted in the arrest of Jason E. Egner of Mathews Road, Boardman, on a charge of marijuana possession when, police said, suspected marijuana was found on his car’s driver’s seat. Egner, 21, also faced charges of obstructing official business and resisting arrest after authorities alleged he refused to get out of his vehicle and fought officers’ efforts to remove him.
Assault: Authorities took 23-year-old Danita B. Harris into custody at her Arlene Avenue home on a warrant. The Boardman woman was accused of failing to appear in court on an assault charge.
Theft: A woman stole an undetermined amount of merchandise from Family Dollar, 4028 South Ave.
Criminal mischief: Someone tossed baby powder on an apartment door in the 1900 block of Wolosyn Circle.
Drugs: Police were dispatched to an apartment in the 7500 block of Market Street, where they reported having found an unresponsive woman, along with a small quantity of suspected marijuana and a bowl with suspected marijuana.
Oct. 20
Trespassing: Officers responded to an unwanted person at a Boardman-Canfield Road gas station, where they charged 48-year-old Pamela M. George of Fox Run Drive, Boardman, with criminal trespassing and obstructing official business. George was on the property despite having been given a criminal-trespassing warning, and she refused to submit to being fingerprinted before struggling with police in the booking room, a report showed.
Theft/criminal damaging: A Poland woman in the 7600 block of South Avenue saw that someone had broken her vehicle’s window and taken several prescription drugs.
Theft: A socket set, a helmet, a flak jacket and another item were removed from a truck at the Southern Park Mall.
Burglary: To an apartment in the 100 block of Shields Road after someone forced open a side window with a screwdriver. Three TVs were taken.
Aggravated menacing: An Arden Boulevard woman reported her former boyfriend threatened to harm her as part of a civil matter between them.
Oct. 21
Burglary: Someone pried a window screen, entered a residence in the 30 block of Crestline Place and knocked several items off a window ledge, though it appeared nothing was stolen.
Theft: Someone removed scrap metal from behind a former business in the 5000 block of Youngstown-Poland Road.
Theft: A man and a woman age 25 to 35 stole a pair of socks from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave.
Domestic violence: Ricky A. Raymond Sr., 50, of Argyle Avenue, Boardman, surrendered on a domestic-violence charge after his wife alleged that during an argument, Raymond had sneaked up and grabbed her neck as she removed items from a van. He also pushed the accuser, causing her to strike her head against the vehicle, she told police.
Theft: Sixteen socket fittings and a global-positioning-system unit were taken from a car in the 500 block of Boardman-Canfield Road.
Theft: A woman in her late 20s fled in a green Dodge Stratus vehicle after reportedly stealing 20 pieces of women’s clothing from the J.C. Penney store in the Southern Park Mall.
Aggravated menacing: A Boardman-Canfield Road woman reported her former boyfriend sent threatening voice-mail messages, including a threat to beat her up.
Breaking and entering: Someone cut part of a chain-link fence and broke into Lowe’s, 1100 Doral Drive. Stolen was a 27-ton log-splitting machine valued at $1,395.
Theft: A Campbell girl, 14, and a Youngstown girl, 16, were charged after roughly $86 worth of clothing was stolen from Walmart. The older teen also faced a child-endangering charge when, police said, a 1-year-old child was left in a lobby area as the girl returned to the store.
Theft: An official with a Southern Boulevard group home told police a boy escaped, then stole clothing from four township businesses, including Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.
Oct. 22
Trespassing: A Woodrow Avenue woman said she awoke to see someone tapping on her bedroom window.
Theft: A woman stole 34 food items worth $198 from Walmart.
Theft: Two 17-year-old Youngstown boys were charged in the theft of two packs of condoms from Walmart.
Domestic violence: Steven E. Shaffer was taken into custody at his Romaine Avenue residence and charged with domestic violence, possession of drug-abuse instruments and obstructing official business after his girlfriend alleged the 43-year-old man had pushed her during a fight. Shaffer, who also was wanted on warrants, refused for a few minutes to surrender, and had two spoons with burn marks, common in drug use, as well as other suspected contraband, police said.
Theft: Sunny R. Coffer of Hillman Way, Boardman, and Briasia N. Leggette of Leo Avenue, Youngstown, were charged. The two 19-year-old women were accused of stealing $290 worth of clothing from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.
Identity theft: A Youngstown man learned his personal information had been compromised when a collection agency claimed he had incurred a $3,000 debt in 1998 at a Southern Park Mall department store.
Theft: Melissa A. Manley, 31, of Lynn Avenue, Poland, was charged with stealing two pairs of shoes from Kohl’s.
Burglary: Took place through a side door to a home in the 700 block of Golfview Avenue, though police found no signs of forced entry. A flat-screen TV and a cellphone were stolen.
Theft: Two women, one each in her 20s and 50s, stole 22 articles of clothing valued at $1,600 from Victoria’s Secret Pink in the Southern Park Mall.
Theft: Jennifer N. Zackasee, 30, of Ridge Road, Youngstown, surrendered on a theft charge after a $20 machine used to roll cigarettes was missing from Smoker Friendly, 4927 Market St. She also was wanted on a probation-violation charge.
Oct. 23
Citation: While assisting with a vehicular crash in the 1200 block of Boardman-Poland Road, police cited 47-year-old Samuel M. Jama of Park Harbour Drive, Boardman, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.
