A boil-water advisory has been issued to all Trumbull County water customers north of King Graves Road on Niles Cortland Road in Howland.

During the advisory, residents are urged to boil tap water used for drinking or ingestion, keeping it at a rolling boil for three to five minutes.

Norquest still closed

AUSTINTOWN

Due to weather delays, Norquest Boulevard between Mahoning Avenue and Evans Road will remain closed through Monday for a culvert replacement, the Mahoning County Engineer’s Office has announced. The initial plan was to reopen the road today after a five-day closure.

Accident near Niles

WEATHERSFIELD

Troopers with the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating after a car flipped over near a busy intersection just outside Niles.

According to Vindicator broadcast partner 21 WFMJ-TV, the accident happened just after 1:30 p.m. Thursday on Robbins Avenue, just west of U.S. Route 422.

Witnesses say the driver managed to get out of the car but was transported to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital.

As of late Thursday, there was no word on the victim’s name, but investigators say the injuries appeared minor.

National Day of Caring

WARREN

Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership is seeking volunteers to help with its National Day of Caring project from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, the cleanup and beautification on Woodland Avenue Northeast between Laird Avenue Northeast and the Woodland Avenue Bike Trail.

Scheduled activities are cleaning litter along the southern end of the bike trail, painting of several fire hydrants along Woodland, and a small landscaping installation. Tools and supplies will be provided; however volunteers are encouraged to bring rakes, brooms and shovels.

Volunteers are asked to meet at Mahoning Lighting & Maintenance, 848 Woodland Ave. NE.

UW drawing delayed

YOUNGSTOWN

The drawing for the trip for two to Super Bowl XLVIII or $5,000, the top campaign incentive prize offered by the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley has been postponed. The second prize is $1,000 and the third prize is $500.

The drawing was originally scheduled for Sunday. A new date for the drawing has not been determined, United Way officials said.

Tickets are still available for $100 each. No more than 250 tickets will be sold. Call 330-746-8494 for information.

Festival at Mooney

YOUNGSTOWN

Cardinal Mooney High School, 2545 Erie St., will host a Fall Fun Fest from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the school’s courtyard.

The event is open to all Cardinal Mooney families, students and parents, as well as those from Mooney’s “feeder parishes.” Students are encouraged to arrive in costume.

The festival, in its first year, was initiated by the school’s Strategic Planning Committee to strengthen the bond between Mooney and the feeder parishes that support it.

A variety of activities and fall food offerings will be available. A spooky story time also will be offered.

Music will be provided by Markie V during the Monster Music Jam.

Columbiana roads closed for Hilloween

As a result of the Hilloween Half Marathon on Sunday these roads will be closed from 7:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m., excluding local traffic: Columbiana-New Waterford Road, Metz Road, Fairfield School Road, Kelly Park Road, Middleton Road, Crestview Road, Lower Elkton Road and Duquesne Street.

Information about the Mahoning-Youngstown Community Action Partnership Head Start Program for children 6 weeks to 5 years old will be available at the Volney Rogers Youth Association Football Championships from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at The Rayen Stadium, 250 Benita Ave.

The Head Start Program, a federally funded program of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition and parent-involvement services to income-eligible children and their families.

Motorcycle stolen from Boardman shop

Township business owners are in search of the person or people who broke into their landscaping business and stole a motorcycle Wednesday.

Owners of Stanley Lawn and Landscape on Southern Boulevard told police someone kicked in a door to the facility and took a 2010 Yamaha R1 motorcycle.

The motorcycle had market carbon fiber print parts, which would distinguish it from others, the owners told police.

Wean Foundation has orientation sessions

Orientation sessions are scheduled for organizations seeking grants through Neighborhood SUCCESS and Leadership, a program of The Raymond John Wean Foundation. The program awards grants of $500 to $5,000 for resident-driven projects in early childhood, educational opportunity, economic opportunity, community revitalization, and public and civic sector leadership.

Grant-seekers are required to attend an orientation session before submitting an application. The application deadline is 5 p.m. Jan. 15. Warren seeks input on housing action plan

The city is seeking comments from citizens on the 2014 Consolidated Housing and Community Development Annual Action Plan. Two public comment sessions will be at noon and 4 p.m. Nov. 4 at the Community Development Department, 418 Main Ave. SW.

Sessions are in a handicap-accessible building. A draft of the 2014 Consolidated Housing and Community Development Annual Action Plan is available at the CD department and online at www.warren.org.
