Drew Rauzan sworn in Nov. 1 as Campbell's permanent police chief
CAMPBELL — Sgt. Drew Rauzan will be sworn in as the city's new permanent police chief at 3 p.m. Nov. 1 in the municipal building's courtroom.
Joining Rauzan in taking the police oath of office will be all members of the police department, who will use the swearing-in ceremony as an opportunity to rededicate themselves to city residents.
Rauzan, who is a 15-year veteran of the Campbell Police Department, has been interim chief since June, when he replaced Sgt. David Taybus, the former interim chief who served from December until Rauzan's temporary appointment.
Just a few weeks ago, Rauzan learned that he'd received the highest score on the civil-service exam, which was intended to determine the permanent replacement for former Chief Gus Sarigianopoulos.
Three department sergeants — Rauzan, Taybus, and Sgt. John Rusnak — vied for the position.
