Cross country teams place second

The Canfield Cross Country team participated in the All American Conference Championships on Oct. 1 in Champion. The girl’s team placed second in the five-team field. Placing for Canfield were Devin Foley (fourth), Raquel Markulin (sixth), Jenny McClune (eighth), Anna Luongo (ninth), Rachel Rostek (13th), Isabelle Moyer (26th) and Victoria Bosze (27th). The boy’s team placed second in a six-team field. Placing for Canfield were Chase Kern (second), Tyler Kennedy (fourth), Alec Kennedy (fifth), Rollin Bresson (sixth), Mack Mettille (14th) and Stephen Gant (20th). The following runners were named first team All Conference Chase Kern, Alec Kennedy, Tyler Kennedy, Rollin Bresson, Devin Foley, Raquel Markulin, Jenny McClune and Anna Luongo.

Cross country team competes in Mahoning County Championships

On Sept. 24 The Canfield Cross Country team travelled to Austintown to participate in the Mahoning County Championships. The girl’s team finished third out of 10 teams. Placing for Canfield were Devin Foley (seventh) Raquel Markulin (ninth), Anna Luongo (15th), Jenny McClune (17th), Victoria Pacheco (18th), Rachel Rostek (24th) and Amy Goddard 41st. The boy’s team finished second in a 12 team field.

Placing for Canfield were Alec Kennedy (third), Tyler Kennedy (fourth), Rollin Bresson (sixth), Chase Kern (seventh), Bryan Kristan (16th), Stephen Gant (34th) and Mack Mettille (37th).

Lady Cards defeat Quakers

Coached by Phil Simone, the Canfield Lady Cardinals recently rolled through the Salem Quakers 6-0. Goals were scored by Anita Mancini, Paige Bidinotto, Elena Billy (2) and Sophia Mancini (2). Elena Billy, Haley Klacik and Paige Bidinotto had assists. The Lady Cards have 72 goals on the season with a total record 13-2-3.

Cross Country competes at Strongsville

The Canfield Cross Country team travelled to Strongsville to participate in the annual Strongsville invitational on Sept 21. The girls team finished 17th with 491 points in a strong 25 team field. Placing for Canfield were Devin Foley (58th), Raquel Markulin (84th), Victoria Pacheco (101st), Anna Luongo (116th), Jenny McClune (132nd), Isabelle Moyer (142nd) and Rachel Rosteck (165th). A total of 220 runners finished the race.

The boys team finished first with 98 points in a strong 27 team field. Placing for Canfield were Alec Kennedy (eighth), Chase Kern (13th), Rollin Bresson (14th), Tyler Kennedy (18th), Bryan Kristan (45th) and Matt Coalmer (160th). A total of 217 runners finished the race.

Canfield hosts Suburban League Championships

The Canfield Cross Country team hosted the annual Suburban League Championships at the Canfield Fairgrounds on Sept. 17. The girl’s team finished fifth out of 16. Placing for Canfield were Devin Foley (seventh), Victoria Pacheco (23rd), Raquel Markulin (24th), Anna Luongo (25th), Jenny McClune (36th), Rachel Rosetek (46th) and Isabelle Moyer (52nd). A total of 233 runners finished the race. The boy’s team finished 1st in a field of 28 teams. Placing for Canfield were Alec Kennedy (fourth), Chase Kern (fifth), Tyler Kennedy (seventh), Rollin Bresson (11th), Bryan Kristan (31st) and Tyler Tarashawty (66th). A total of 319 runners finished the race.

Canfield defeats Crestwood

Canfield Cardinals defeated the Crestwood Red Devils at Bob Dove stadium Oct. 19. Canfield’s offense and defense dominated the game. 21 shots by Canfield led to a final score of 6-0. Goals were scored by Frank Phillips (3), Brady Clark (2) and Ben Fuer. Assists were from Ben Fuer (2), Frank Phillips, Max.

Basketball team fundraiser

The Canfield High School Baseball Team is hosting its Annual Fundraising Dinner on Oct. 27 at St. Michael Parish Hall from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Canfield loses to Walsh Jesuit

After a hard fought battle against a high-ranked team, the Canfield girls volleyball team lost their first tournament game to Walsh Jesuit 3-1 (18-25, 25-21, 17-25, 23-25).

Top players for Canfield were Darby Hepola with 12 kills out of 18 attemps; Rachel Rafoth with 35 digs; Marcella Adams with 22 digs and Morgan Leonard with 10 kills and four blocks.

Cardinals defeats Ravenna Southeast

The Canfield Lady Cardinals, ranked eighth in the state in Division 2, recently hosted the Lady Pirates of Ravenna Southeast.

Canfield dominated play with a final score of 10-1. Goals were made by Bailey Fisher (3), Paige Bidinotto (3), Sydney Miller (2), Sophia Mancini (1) and Haley Klacik (1). Assists were made by Paige Bidinotto, Sydney Miller, Bailey Fisher, Anita Mancini and Elena Billy.
