People lined up for family-friendly, haunted wagon rides at Boardman Park Oct. 18. The event is offered for several weekends in October.
Though the lines can be long, two or three wagons running keep the event flowing smoothly, said Brittany Stalnacker, a volunteer at the event.
Amy Roth of Boardman attended last year with her daughter, Brooklyn.
“It was really fun, and she wanted to go for another ride into the woods,” Amy said.
The event is billed as family-friendly, and Amy said it is.
Brooklyn “liked it last year. She wasn’t too scared. It was cute,” Amy said.
Brooklyn agreed.
“I liked when the people popped up and scared us,” she said.
The event offers more than haunted wagon rides. Children can scale a climbing wall or jump in a bounce house. Food is also available. Two bonfires are offered for toasting marshmallows and warming up if the evening is chilly. A lighted pumpkin display is also part of the event.
The final days to take part are Oct. 25 and 26. Tickets are sold between 6:30-9:30 p.m. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. A family rate of $12 for Boardman residents and $15 for non-residents. The family rate is based on two adults and up to four children.
