Woman charged with theft in Steubenville rape case

COLUMBUS (AP) — An eastern Ohio grand jury has charged a woman with receiving stolen property and theft in its investigation into whether other laws were broken in the rape of a 16-year-old girl.

Attorney General Mike DeWine says the charges against 20-year-old Heather Rhinaman of Mingo Junction are related to things that happened at Steubenville City Schools.

DeWine said the indictment issued today is separate from an indictment earlier this month against Rhinaman’s father.

William Rhinaman, the city schools’ technology director, has pleaded not guilty to charges of tampering with evidence, obstructing justice, obstructing official business and perjury.

It was unclear if Heather Rhinaman has an attorney. Her phone was not working Wednesday.

In March, a judge convicted two Steubenville football players of raping the West Virginia girl last year.
