A man charged with stabbing a man with a screwdriver in May and biting him entered guilty pleas Tuesday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.

James Kennedy, 27, entered an Alford plea before Judge Lou D’Apolito to second-degree felony charges of felonious assault and burglary and a misdemeanor count of domestic violence.

He will be sentenced after completion of a presentence investigation.

An Alford plea is one in which a defendant maintains innocence but admits that if the case goes to trial, there is enough evidence for a jury to convict.

Reports say Kennedy broke into a Willis Avenue home late May 24 and stabbed a man several times with a screwdriver and bit him on the finger.

The victim was in the home of the mother of his child, reports said.
