Youngstown man arrested in on drug charges

CAMPBELL — Police stopped a Youngstown man for driving left of center on Jackson Street shortly after 5 p.m. Monday, then arrested him on drug charges after finding suspected marijuana in his car.

When police pulled over the driver — identified as 36-year-old Benjamin T. McClendon, of Berkley Street — they noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from the car.

McClendon, however, denied having anything in the car, but police found a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana, along with a suspected marijuana cigarette. They also confiscated $975.

McClendon was charged with possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia, and cited for the traffic offense.
