The Salem Historical Society’s final Quakertown Trolley tours of the season will be Saturday and Sunday.

There will be two options:

Underground Railroad Trolley: Jeanne Martinelli, dressed as a Salem Quaker, will take passengers back to 1856 to gain a better understanding of the plight of slaves, the working of the Underground Railroad and the abolitionist movement that flourished in Salem before the Civil War.

Since the homes are private and entrances not possible, flashed on a screen inside the trolley will be more than 100 slides to show pictures of the insides of the homes, the Underground Railroad hiding places, and several abolitionists who lived in or visited them.

Tickets are $10, and a minimum of 15 are necessary to conduct the tour, which will leave at 1:30 p.m. both days.

Ghost Trolley: The Salem Ghost Trolley Tour visits famous graves and other “haunted” areas around Salem.

The cost is $15. Trolley leaves at 6 p.m., 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. both days. Reservations are required.
