Bidding underway for mall, plaza

YOUNGSTOWN

Online bidding for the Cafaro Co.-owned McGuffey Mall and Garland Plaza, 795 and 761 N. Garland Ave., respectively, opened at 1 p.m. Monday and will conclude Wednesday.

As of late Monday afternoon, no bids had been received, said Joe Bell, director of corporate communications for Cafaro. The minimum bid for the property is $100,000.

Bell said it is usual for bids to not come in early. Typically, most offers come during the last hour of the bidding period, he added. Auction.com’s website reveals the most current bid submitted and says subsequent bids must be in increments of at least $50,000.

The property up for sale includes two one-story buildings that contain 238,194 square feet and occupy a 22-acre site.
