He meets saloon girl Marissa Pierce, who seeks to reform her life. Themes of faith, forgiveness and overcoming prejudice and adversity resound in the book, which is the first in her Brides of Assurance trilogy.

Boddie is the daughter of Jerald F. Stewart and the late Patricia A. Cousin Stewart. She has a juris doctorate from Howard University School of Law and a bachelor’s degree in political science from Youngstown State University. She lives in Colorado.
