YOUNGSTOWN

“Disasters in Mahoning Valley History,” a new exhibition at the Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, opens 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The temporary exhibit, which will be on display in the Archives, was developed and executed by students in the Museum Curation and Interpretation class at Youngstown State University. The cases feature four disasters important in area history: The Great Flood of 1913, the Thanksgiving Day Snowstorm of 1950, the Wheatland Tornado of 1985 and “Black Monday” on Sept. 19, 1977. The exhibit is part of the celebration of Ohio Archives month, which selected as its 2013 theme “Disasters in Ohio History.”

The event at the Steel Museum on West Wood Street is free and open to the public. For more information, call 330-941-3158.
