Cops seek help in South Side robberies

Police say an armed robbery of a South Side restaurant Thursday is related to three other robberies in that part of town.
Police were called to the Subway at 830 E. Midlothian Blvd. about 4:05 p.m. for a report of two men, one of them armed with a .22-caliber revolver, who came in through a side door and demanded money.
Both men had their faces covered by bandannas, reports said.
The robber with the gun held it against an employee’s head and demanded they open the safe but got upset when he was told the safe was on a time delay and could not open.
Reports said the robber tried to fire a round into the ceiling but the gun jammed. His partner grabbed the drawer from the cash register and threw it in a bag, and they also took wallets from the customers before running out of the restaurant.
Other robberies were at the Burger King at 15 W. Midlothian Blvd. on Sept. 30; the Family Dollar at 2224 Market St. on Oct. 8; and the Taco Bell at 3726 Market St. at 2:56 p.m.
Anyone with information is asked to the call police department at 330 747-7911 or Crimestoppers at 330-746-CLUE.
