Open house Sunday at Weathersfield Twp. Fire Department

Weathersfield Township Fire Department will have an open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday at the Mineral Ridge fire station on state Route 46 in observance of Fire Safety Month.

There will be interactive events for children, showing them how to practice fire safety through participation. They will be able to dress in fire gear, spray a fire hose and go in a fire training trailer.

Additionally, hot dogs and hamburgers will be served during the open house.

The Weathersfield Township Police Department also will be in attendance with their canine unit. Officer Dan Lowery will do car- seat safety checks to ensure proper installation

The Community Spirit Day Parade begins at 2 p.m. at Ohltown-McDonald Road and continues down state Route 46 to Seaborn Elementary at the old middle-school building.

The First Presbyterian Church on Route 46 will have an open house during the parade where refreshments will be serve.

Rounding out the day’s events is the Powder Puff football game at 3 p.m. at Joe Lane Stadium.
