Group will host seminar, meeting at Kent Trumbull
YOUNGSTOWN
The American Production and Inventory Control Society will host a seminar and professional development meeting Thursday at Kent State at Trumbull.
The seminar will take place from 2 to 5 p.m., followed by a networking meeting and light dinner from 5 to 8 p.m.
Members of the organization, guests and students are welcome.
Attendees can choose to attend both the seminar and dinner, or just one.
The cost is $15 for one event or $25 for both.

Incubator’s series features expert from Bank of America

The Youngstown Business Incubator’s Learning Lab series will feature Eric Johnson, vice president and senior client manager of Bank of America Merrill Lynch, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the YBI, 241 W. Federal St.
The workshop will give attendees the opportunity to ask specific questions to allow discussion of on-going finance and accounting issues related to small business, technology and business development.

National Bancshares has record 3Q profit
SALEM
Orrville, Ohio-based National Bancshares Corp., the holding company for First National Bank, which recently opened a branch is Salem, report a record third- quarter profit of $1.04 million, or 47 cents per share.
That’s up from $857,000, or 39 cents per share during the same period in 2012.
“Agriculture and small business lending and mortgage banking activities continue to be instrumental in improving our profitability,” said Mark Witmer, president and chief executive officer, in a statement.
Total loans at the bank have grown $42.5 million in 2013 and $94.3 million over the last seven quarters.
Kasich appoints new head of ODJFS

Gov. John R. Kasich on Friday appointed Cynthia Callender Dungey to lead the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Dungey, who currently serves as chief of staff at the Ohio Department of Medicaid, replaces Michael Colbert, who resigned to pursue other opportunities.
ODJFS is the state agency responsible for developing and supervising the public assistance, unemployment compensation, child and adult protective services, adoption, child-care and child-support programs.
In other news, Kasich appointed Julia A. Ault, of Youngstown, to the state lottery commission for a term that ends in August 2016.
