Pair robs Subway on E. Midlothian Blvd.

YOUNGSTOWN A pair of robbers got away with more than $260 in cash from customers and the cash drawer at a South Side fast food restaurant about 4:05 p.m. Thursday.

Police were called to the Subway at 830 E. Midlothian Blvd. for a report of two men, one of them armed with a .22-caliber revolver, who came in through a side door and demanded money. Both men had their faces covered by bandanas, reports said.

The robber with the gun held it against an employee’s head and demanded they open the safe but got upset when he was told the safe was on a time delay and could not open.

Reports said the robber tried to fire a round into the ceiling but the gun jammed. His partner grabbed the drawer from the cash register and threw it in a bag and they also took wallets from the customers before running out of the restaurant.
