Children all cozy in their pajamas heard stories about jungle animals Sept. 30 during Pajama Jam: Sleepy-Time Fun for the Family at the Poland library.

“Lets take a trip to the jungle,” children’s librarian Amanda Kollar said.

Kollar began the program with a rhyme, “I went to the jungle one day, jungle one day, I went to the jungle on day and met a __ along the way,” filling in the blank with different jungle animals.

Children then heard “Here and There Book: Safari Sounds” by Susan Ring and John Kanzier, “Quiet!” by Paul Bright and “Tiny Little Fly” by Michael Rosen.

After the stories, the children said “Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed,” and went on a pretend lion hunt through the jungle, maneuvering through tall grass and large lakes. The children learned that the lion is the kind of the jungle.

After the program, children were invited to create their very own lion puppet craft.

The next Pajama Jam is Oct. 28 at the Poland library. Children are invited to come in pajamas or a costume.
