Bond is set at $2 million for a man accused in the city’s latest homicide.

City Prosecutor Dana Lantz said at the arraignment Friday for 51-year-old David Hackett of New York Avenue that he stabbed the victim, Collena Carpenter, 30, of Homeworth, more than 60 times.

Her body was found dumped on an access road off of West Avenue early Monday. Police have not yet said if she was killed where she was found or dumped there. They did say she had been there for a long time but less than 24 hours.

Hackett had served a prison sentence for a 1978 homicide he committed as a 16-year-old. Lantz said he has other convictions in other states, including Pennsylvania.

Carpenter’s death is the 13th homicide in the city in 2013. Youngstown had 26 homicides in 2012.
